Accidents could happen, even when one dealt in dreams, and an accident in a dream had left Cobb trapped between the dream world and the waking world. Hour after hour, his crew and the woman he loved took turns, keeping watch over his inert form as he lay comatose; they awaited any sign of recovery, but nothing changed in his condition.
Eames found himself lingering beside Scherehazade as she hovered by his friend's bedside. The man could be exasperating, but he'd been through a lot and he'd earned a second chance, and that included a new start with a new young lady in his life. But he hated to see her so alone at a time like this. Something like this shouldn't have happened to a nicer girl, and she shouldn't need to see her lover like this...
