Piers Anthony's On a Pale Horse, is about a mortal that assumes the mantle of Death, aka The Grim Reaper.

It's the first (and best) book in his Incarnations of Immortality series... which I never did finish reading, as it went rapidly downhill after the first couple of books.

The first book, as I said, is worth the read... and I have a copy somewhere if you're interested.

I just may take you up on that, not too soon mind you I have literally a ton of books I should try and make dent into.

I really enjoyed Mort by Terry Pratchett; Death taking a holiday, what hijinx :)

Watchmen is proceeding; I have been inundated with the blue pen-is and know a bit (lol, or perhaps too much) about Jon (who is strolling about on Mars). I believe I am about to start chapter 4 or maybe it is 5; anywho it is about to begin on the background of the night owl.
