Camp ends and Potter begins

After having a day in the sun eating scones and rhubarb preserves (I passed on the fairy butter and ice cream of course) and playin croquet and knitting - yes you heard me - I re-learned to knit as I was in the knitters club in grade 5 before I moved up north...I'm knitting a nice deep green scarf for some unwilling victim.... I aws called by a loverly lady called Laura ahem I mean Snape.

Yes I was coaxed into a Harry Potter release party tonight and I must say I wish I was up to speed with the books (I'm on the second book but seen all the movies - I know thats lame so I am not a Pot-Head) but here I was sitting around with all these Pot-Heads who were dressed up, searching for wizard cards and getting ready to play Quidditch.

We watched JK Rowling over broadband from London at 7 pm as its modnight there - for her midnight release party where she read the first chapter to a gathering of fans from her new/last book about Harry Potter.  It was gorgeous!  I have been having a hard time getting through the first couple books but these later ones are written beautifully!

After that we played Quidditch and I was a beater or a bludgeon I don't know.  And we lost. I was on Slitherins team.  He had low house points when I left at the time the Pot-Heads were doing some hardcore trivia - there was even a spell-off where Laura vs Laura went head to head with spells from the book (yeah geektastic) and we ate theme food (well the pizza wasn't but there was even spotted dick!  (cupcakes in shape of a penis and then had rainbow icing flecks... ha ha ha)

They will wait in line at 10:30 in their costume (I was once dressed as Molly Weasley but got hot too fast; I was knitting from earlier so that would have fit nicely!) but I opted to leave when I just didn't understand anything anymore.  The 8th book was given to me in coles notes by them but I just couldn't live up to their Pot-Head needs.

It was fun though!  I wish I could attend the all-night read fest they are goign to have - seems so cute!  But I'm just not knowing.

Camp is done for a while and that means - HORRAY - my birthday planning will commence tout suite!  And that Ash is leaving in a matter of days :( booo to BFF's leaving for the other side of the country. Boo.

girl-geek, museums!, big red in camp
