mom and I were in a car accident today....
turning left through an intersection swarmed by people and police cars we start heading south on windmere rd. All the traffic must have hidden the kid - he ran into traffic right at us. He hit the drivers side while he was looking backward to his friend back on the side walk where he was coming from: HE WASN'T EVEN LOOKING WHERE HE WAS GOING! Mom slammed on the brakes - I screamed, so did she - we saw him tumble but thankfully no one hit him while he was down on the road. Some friends (the one he was waving back to while he ran backward into traffic) got him to lay down on someones lawn. The friends mom came running forward asking for a phone for his mom. I ran up the street to the cops that were cluttering the intersection just north of us. I stopped over a grate in the road to vomit - The lady with the helmet/the mom of the friend rubbed my back and said "Its ok. Hes ok. It's not your fault. We say him run into you" I told her I wasn't the driver - mom was just standing there in shock yelling for the police and IS HE OK.
Paramedics were there with the cop and they made sure he was "ok" he seemed to have bounced - I saw no blood - maybe it was all internal - but he wasn't in pain - maybe shock and adrenaline. Other witnesses came forward and said they saw him run into traffic
they kept us there for so long...
After they took him to the hospital - and after his Dad came to get him and said "Did you cross at the crosswalk? that's what you get! First day he was allowed to go by himself too!" Christian is 8 years old
Mom got a ticket for not yielding to a pedestrian. Bullocks. He ran into traffic without looking. He was running into traffic BACKWARDS. He was 8 years old so you blame the car that stopped as fast as they could?!
We will be going to court.
Mom is very shaken and worried. I am now past that and the nausea- I'm worried and angry at the cops on the scene. Since the Millar crack down on pedestrians getting hit - we feel the cops gave her a ticket to appease the new ruling and not listening to all the witnesses say that it was the boys stupidity that made this accident happen. We will be going to court.
