I finally moved to Illinois yestereve! The drive up went smoothly until we hit the really busy areas around Chicago. I had the caravan a bit lost and forced us all to take a threatening, emergency vehicle only, u-turn. No great losses there. No cop, no stop, aye?
After an extra 30 minutes of driving, many roaming fees later, we foud our way to our destination. I should feel greatful it didn't rain yesterday.. but I don't. I would have prefered wet boxes to the eventual, frightening, dizzy from heat feeling. I did not pass out this time, although everything began looking like Waking Life animation for a while.
Amanda's friends Bob, Mike, and Sarah stopped by to help me unpack. After such a long time of being unable to make friends, I feel so blessed to finally be meeting all of these very nice people. We had a great time, all laughing as we opened boxes. Bob was enchanted by my collection of odd statues. He had a striking idea for one of them... its wooden and looks like the Easter Island version of "The Thinker". They mounted it to the refrigerator handle. Too funny. We'll definately keep it there. Bob was so impressed by his work he asked Amanda, "Does your sister have anything else I can mount?" We laughed for hours about that, and I think he'll not be able to live that down for decades.
With all that said, I still have so much organizing to go through. Amanda will be taking me around the town today to get used to the area.
I'll post photos of the supercouch (I worked so hard to make this thing ugly!!) soon.
