Summary: Sarah's gone and Morgan thinks Chuck needs to get laid. And Morgan... well, he's like a dog with a bone sometimes. While Casey - he has his own ideas.
“Russian?” Morgan asked.
“Da,” Chuck answered, not looking up from his ‘learn Russian the easy way’ book.
“There a particular reason why you’re trying to learn Russian?”
“Casey likes to talk dirty in Russian,” Chuck deadpanned, “I want to know what he’s saying.”
Morgan and the others who were all standing at the desk all looked at him in complete horror. The silence however, made Chuck look up.
“I’m kidding,” he said, “I just wanted to learn.”
“The Casey story was far more believable,” Lester told him before going back to his paperwork.
Chuck just rolled his eyes at him.
“So how much do you know?” Morgan asked him.
“Not enough,” he said, “And what I do know I’m probably saying out of context,” he added as his watch beeped, “Oh that’s my shift over. See you guys on Tuesday.”
All of them watched as Chuck jumped over the desk and left the store, making his way over to the Orange Orange.
“I’m telling you guys, Casey has to be giving him an allowance or something,” Jeff commented.
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Anna said.
“How else can he manage on just three days work a week? And he’s got a new gym membership to pay for,” Lester added.
“Chuck’s always been good with his money,” Morgan said, “And he and John don’t seem to go out to all the really expensive restaurants and art galleries that Sarah used to drag him too… huh. It suddenly makes so much sense.”
“What does?”
“Chuck’s interest in art.”
The other contemplated this as Chuck’s form disappeared inside Orange Orange.
“Hey,” Chuck said in way of greeting to Casey who was stocking up the drinks fridge.
“Dobriy dyehn,” Casey said with a smile.
“What?”
“Still haven’t unlocked the translation program then?”
“Uh, that would be a no,” Chuck said with a sigh as he slumped down at one of the tables, helping himself to a bottle of Dr Pepper.
“Day mn’e,” Casey said as he took the bottle off him, “No sugar.”
“Oh come on,” Chuck said in protest, “I’m thirsty.”
Casey studied him for a moment, “Say it in russian and I’ll think about it.”
Chuck sighed and closed his eyes. He could just give up and let Casey win this one, but he also knew that Casey was trying to prove a point, “Ya hAchu pit',” he said quietly, holding out his hand.
“Your accent could do with a little work,” Casey said as he handed him the bottle back, “But not bad.”
“Thanks,” Chuck said sarcastically as he opened up the bottle and took a nice big gulp.
He’d been trying to learn Russian and Spanish since he’d found out he had to know them two weeks ago. And he only had two weeks left to perfect what little knowledge he had.
“I’m going to head downstairs and see if I can find anything on the network that might help,” he said as he stood up. As he made to walk behind the counter, Casey put a hand on the back of his neck.
“Chuck,” he said softly, making him turn to look at him, “You can do this. I know you can.”
“I wish I had your faith in me,” Chuck said with a soft smile before disappearing.
Casey watched him go and couldn’t help but wish he could do something to help him. He was excelling at everything else, but if he failed on his language assessment then it would be back to being the asset for him. And that was something he really didn’t want.
He’d opened up to Chuck, more than he had with any other partner, more than he had with any lover. For him to go back to being his asset when he was so clearly his equal now was completely and utterly incomprehensible.
As he continued to stock up the fridge, he couldn’t help but think just how much it would break Chuck’s heart if he didn’t pass. He didn’t want Chuck to hurt. He’d been through enough in his life and if he could he’d love to take away all that pain for him. He was aware that he perhaps cared for Chuck more than he should, even if he was his partner. But he’d worked closely with him for two years already, even closer now so it was bound to happen.
The kissing and hand holding not to mention waking up in each others arms like they had last week, really didn’t help matters. He was just glad that Chuck hadn’t picked up on his growing attraction (yeah, it hadn’t gone away only gotten stronger), that he had accepted the ‘half asleep’ excuse he’d given him, as it would surely cause some trouble if he did pick up on it.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Chuck couldn’t sleep.
He couldn’t stop worrying about the fact that he had less than two weeks to become fluent in both Spanish and Russian. He had no idea how he was going to do it. He’d tried everything, reading over old case files, watching foreign movies without subtitles, watching them with… and nothing. He knew Casey wouldn’t lie to him about the Intersect having a translation program, it made sense, he just wish he knew how to unlock it.
Deciding that he wasn’t going to get to sleep anytime soon, he got up out of bed and headed downstairs. He was staying over in Casey’s again, keeping up the pretence of their being a couple. Casey had kindly cleared out the spare room for him so he could sleep in there instead of the lazy boy. He outright refused to share a bed with him and after last time, he kind of understood why.
If Ellie hadn’t walked in when she did, things would likely have happened that really shouldn’t have. He hadn’t been as asleep as Casey had thought he’d been. He was well aware of who it was that had been thrusting against his ass, whose hand he was pushing down to his crotch. He had wanted nothing more than to feel Casey touching him, gripping him, but he knew it would’ve ended up in disaster.
As much as they had just woken up, if things had carried on, if they hadn’t been interrupted, they would’ve soon both become wide awake and being men, would more than likely given in to their urges and wouldn’t have been able to blame it on anything other than that they had both wanted it.
He wasn’t actually sure if Casey had wanted it or not or if he actually had still been in a bit of a daze. He had thought about asking him, but every time he started to open his mouth, one look at Casey would have him changing the subject out of fear of his wrath.
Heading into the kitchen, he tried to put all thoughts of Casey holding him and touching him to the back of his mind as he helped himself to the man’s secret stash of cocoa and grabbed a packet of gummi bears before going to log on to the computer. He was feeling sorry for himself and had concluded that sugar and gaming was the only thing that would console him.
He quickly logged on to the computer and started up his online game, the only one that Casey let him have over here. He said he was trying to ‘wean him off that crap’ but gaming was as much a part of him as the military was to Casey.
The game he was playing, although played online, involved him working on his own to solve puzzles that would help him unlock the next level. As he worked his way through the game he soon forgot about the cocoa and the gummi bears, instead immersing himself in the world of the game and so it was his own fault really that he didn’t hear Casey coming down the stairs.
“What are you doing up?” Casey asked him.
“Wait,” Chuck said holding up his hand as he completed the puzzle he was working on.
Casey frowned and made to step round the computer, but as he did, Chuck’s face fell and the music from the game stopped. Wondering just what the hell had happened, Casey turned to look at the monitor. It was blank except for the words ‘translation decoder activated’.
“Chuck?” he asked as he turned back round to him, “Chuck? Answer me!”
Suddenly Chuck let out a sigh and looked up at him, “What?” he asked in confusion.
“What the hell just happened?” Casey asked him as he cupped his face in his hands and checked him over.
“I was just playing my game,” Chuck said, “Why?”
Casey pulled back slightly before asking, “Chto ty videl? Ty poranil golovu?"
Chuck batted his hand away and rolled his eyes, “Ia v poriadke. Perestan' nervnichat'?"
“Ty mozhesh' ponjat', chto ia skazal?" Casey asked in surprise.
"Da, otlichno,” Chuck nodded before freezing and looking up at Casey, his eyes going wide, “O Gospodi! Ia mogu govorit' po-russki! Sprosi menia chto-to esche!" he demanded as he jumped up.
He was still rather dizzy and stumbled slightly. Casey however, managed to catch him in time, his hands going round his waist to support him.
“Come on, ask me something,” Chuck said with a smile, “Please?”
“Me comprendes ahora?” Casey asked him with a raised eyebrow, switching to Spanish.
“Sí! Ay Dios mio! Yo te comprendo totalmente!” Chuck said with glee, planting a kiss on Casey’s lips. Neither of them realising there was anything wrong with what had just happened or that it felt anything but natural, “Esto es tan impresionante!” he added before his face fell, “Espera. Cómo yo hice esto?”
“Yo no sé,” Casey said with a shrug, “Tu estabas aqui sentado jugando tu juego cuando bajé las escaleras. Entonces te fuiste en blanco por un minuto y eso estaba en el monitor.”
Chuck stepped away from Casey and turned to look at the monitor. There was nothing there, “What did it say?” he asked.
“It said ‘translation decoder activated’.”
“It really said that?” Chuck asked in amazement, “But how? I was playing a game. I mean how could they know… unless someone knows I’m here. That they knew your IP address and that I would be playing this game.”
Casey frowned, worried that they might have a security breach, “Who would know that?” he asked.
He and Chuck sat and stared at the blank screen in confusion for a few moments before they both looked at each other and simultaneously said the same thing, “Bryce.”
“But… how would he know that I’d be staying over, that I’d be going online from your PC in the middle of the night.”
Casey thought about it, “He has to know that I’m training you,” he said, “But for that he would need a contact within the NSA.”
“Unless he saw us,” Chuck said with a shrug.
“What do you mean?”
“We have been acting more like partners than handler and asset for weeks now. He could’ve been coming to stop by at any time and saw us out running or going to the gym or even on a mission. You know what he’s like for spying on us… pardon the pun.”
Casey sighed and rubbed at the back of his neck, “We should tell the General,” he said, “You’re technically still my asset and this is a security breach.”
“She would stop my training,” Chuck said, “You know that. You call her, and I lose any chance of even sitting the assessments let alone getting my badge.”
Casey didn’t know what to do. Chuck was right, she would stop him. And she’d likely send in a second handler because Casey obviously couldn’t do his job properly.
“Until we can talk to Larkin, no more gaming,” he said as he unplugged to computer.
Chuck’s mouth fell open in shock, “Are you kidding me?”
“Do I look like I’m kidding?” Casey asked as he stood up and as Chuck looked at him, it was then and only then that he realised Casey was wearing nothing but a pair of pyjama bottoms.
“Um. No,” he said, swallowing hard and trying to drag his eyes off of Casey’s muscular chest.
“Right well, we’re up in a few hours so best to get to bed,” Casey told him, gesturing towards the stairs.
Chuck just nodded. However didn’t get up. He couldn’t. Not unless he had a cushion or something to cover himself with.
“What the hell are you waiting for?” Casey asked him as he reached down, grabbed him by the arm and pulled him to his feet.
Chuck sighed, “For that to go away,” he muttered.
Casey raised a curious eyebrow at him before looking down. He immediately let go of Chuck’s arm and took a step back, “Bed,” he said as he pointed up stairs, “I mean your bed… on your own,” he added, feeling slightly flustered.
Chuck nodded, and made his way up the stairs as fast as he could, looking back to see Casey standing still where he had left him.
As he closed the door to his bedroom he couldn’t help but wonder what that had all been about, why Casey of all people had blushed at an erection. He’d actually blushed. And the look he’d given Chuck. It wasn’t just embarrassment, it was something else. There was something there. And now that he had the translation thing sorted, he was going to do his best to find out what that something was.
Pulling the covers up to his shoulders, he turned and closed his eyes determined to get some sleep. However as his eyes fell closed the sound of the door to his room opened.
“Something wrong?” he asked as he looked over his shoulder to see Casey in the doorway.
“You can control your urges right?” Casey asked him.
His impromptu boner having already disappeared, Chuck nodded, “Uh, yeah why?”
“Cause I changed my mind,” he said, “Until you get your badge I don’t want you out of my sight.”
Chuck sat up, “What does that mean?”
“It means you’ll be sleeping in my bed from now on. Come one move. I meant what I said about wanting to get some sleep.”
Knowing that this would probably only lead to trouble, Chuck did as he was told, grabbing his phone and his gun taking them with him as he made his way to Casey’s room.
“You’re on that side,” Casey pointed as he pulled a t-shirt out of his drawer and put it on.
Chuck realised that he was covering up deliberately, obviously hoping to deter any arousal in Chuck. It was no use though. Knowing that he’d be sharing a bed with him, Little Chuck decided to wake up again.
“Well, night,” he said as he quickly got into the bed and turned his back on Casey.
“Yeah, night,” Casey said, turning off the light and climbing in beside him.
He resisted the urge to turn onto his side and wrap his arm around Chuck, instead lying on his back and staring up at the ceiling.
It probably hadn’t been the best idea pulling Chuck in here as his hands were likely to wander again, but he’d had to for his safety. He would just have to ensure that he remained professional, no matter how much he wanted to smell the back of his neck again.
