It's the cover of this weeks Israeli "Timeout", with an article about how Jonny and Sharona have an apartment in Nahariya (a small Israeli city) and spend there months a year According to it, he performs every now and then in a small local bar.
First of all, Nahariya is a small boring city up north, not very rich or anything, it has about 51,000 citizens.
So the article starts with a rumor, and then everyone laugh about it, and then they ring 144 which is that number you ring to ask for numbers and they ask for the "Greenwood family" in Nahariya, and they get a number They call it and there's an answering machine in Hebrew, feminine voice, saying "Hello, you've reached the Greenwood family..." and so on. So they go to Nahariya.
They walk into this local bar and start chatting with the bartender. Then they ask him if he knows Jonny.
"Sure, he performed in the area more than once. His wife used to be a waitress here. 4 years ago the entire band showed up in here but they didn't wanna perform so they just sat and had a beer."
They were still skeptical so they rang the bar owner. "Sure I know Jonny! His wife used to work for me until she met him."
"Did you even meet him?"
"Sure!"
"Come on..."
"He comes around every now and then, has a beer and leaves, a very nice guy."
"What kind of beer?"
"A Goldstar." (That's an Israeli beer...)
Then they ask him if Jonny ever performed there and he says that no, he didn't.
Then they go to another bar, the one across the street from there. They walk up to one of the owners and go straight to the point:
"We hear Jonny Greenwood lives in Nahariya!"
"Yes, he even performed, here."
"We don't believe you."
"why?
"Cause...It's Jonny Greenwood and this is Nahariya! when was his last performance?"
"About a month ago. We have an open mic night every Sunday."
"And how was he?"
"Cool."
"Will he do it again?"
"Sure, why not?"
After that they are still skeptical. So they go up to some grocery store They ask the guy at the counter if he knows any Jonny Greenwood.
"I have a lot of customers."
"An English guy."
"Oh yeah, the English guy! Very nice man, has a long black hair, right?"
"Right."
"Oh yeah I remember him. He's the guy that's here half of the time and in England half of the time! That's why he never puts his bill on the tab, I suggested it for him though. He always pays cash." (omg )
"Why does he buy?"
"The usual stuff. Things for the baby he always shows up with in a stroller. Milk, eggs, bread, cheese" (he names a very typical Israeli brand of cheese).
"Do you chat with him?"
"Not really, I think he's into the music business and I know nothing about that."
At that point they leave and it goes on...
They go to a music store.
"Hello, do you know Jonny Greenwood?"
The man behind the counters smiles.
"The question is, do you know him?"
"No."
"Cause I happen to know him personally."
"What does that mean?!"
"I was in his flat."
"...and, how does it look like?"
"Nice, real nice. It doesn't look like it from the outside but it's really nice."
"Really? errr well, we were supposed to meet him but we lost the address..."
"Yeah, I don't think so."
"Well, we tried. So, did he visit here?"
"Sure!"
"Did he buy any CD's?"
"What else would he do here?"
"Coldplay?"
"No, I don't think he likes them much. Lot's of Blues and old stuff. Israeli music too, he really likes that. Last time he was here he said- "I love Shalom Hanoch (an Israeli singer) and Shablul (a band)."
"Did he ever show up with someone from the band?"
"He brings Thom with him every summer."
"You're killing us! you met Thom Yorke?!"
"Yes, I didn't recognize him at first, he's a lot shorter than it seems, a real midget! As opposed to Jonny, who's already half Israelian in his mentality, Thom is distant, a classic British."
