Speaker: Святослав Вакарчук (lead vocalist for Океан Эльзы), Yale World Fellow, Ukrainian civic activist, and rock musician, will discuss the development of civil society in Ukraine.

Svyatoslav (Slava) Vakarachuk is a civic activist and lead vocalist for the Ukrainian rock band Okean Elzy (Elzy’s Ocean). He is currently a Yale World Fellow, a prestigious program whose mission is “to cultivate and empower a network of globally engaged leaders committed to making the world a better place.” His charity work includes the foundation of a non-profit organization Lyudi Maybutnyogo (People of the Future) and fundraising for the military in
eastern Ukraine. Vakarchuk holds a degree in theoretical physics and released eight studio
albums with his band.
