CPE preparation. Writing.
At Saturdays I have CPE class and I should complete writing task to it. This is my first proposal writing and I guess I failed. It took about 55 minutes and I haven’t even reached required minimum of 300 words. Structure is not clear, used poor range of grammar and vocabulary. But I think I used special for proposal linkers correctly. This writing was really tough for me - I am not interested in culture theme and I had nothing to imagine but this harvest festival. My teacher have always told me to make answers at speaking and in writing a little bit personal - that will help to build decent structure and supply with appropriate examples. I failed with it and not satisfied with result.
Task: You are a member of a local education and cultural organization in your area. You have been asked to write a proposal to the National Council for the Arts applying for funding to hold a cultural festival. Write your proposal (300-350 words) saying why you think funds should be allocated to the project and how they would be spent.
The aim of this proposal is to suggest provide funding for holding national cultural harvesting festival in September. In autumn there is a long period when there are no national vocation days and many people could be interested in spending day out.
We propose to organize harvesting festival with exhibition of achievements of agricultural producers and national culture entertainment program. Holding harvesting fest will give opportunities to people to take some rest and to manufactures to acquaint potential customers with their product.
It is envisaged that national manufactures and farmers take part in this event to show results of their work. As we are living at agrarian region we want to time festival to ending of the harvest period to symbolize the finishing of work. We also propose to organize the fair where anyone could sell products of their own like honey, fruits and vegetables, sausages, kwas or sidr as national beverage.
Cultural part of festival will include national dance and song event. There is no secret that there are several ensembles which have something to show but due to overall popularity of country music and dances steadily goes down their art is not well-known. Helping them to show the beauty and uniqueness of our culture will provide increasing interest among people. Also we suggest organize dance master-class for guests of festival with prizes for the most active.
I believe that my proposal is the best way to organize a cultural festival. Total cost of the event will be relatively small but we are expecting to help our local manufactures and increase popularity of national culture at the same time. We believe that this proposal will take into consideration.
