This record if the first of two which Leonard Bernstein made of Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde. His close identification with the music is apparent in every bar. "When it's over," he once said to his sister, "one wants only to crawl away and die somewhere. It is a summation of conducting".

Remastered at 96kHz in 24-bit digital stereo from the original analogue mastertapes, which recorded in 1966 (location - Sofiensaal, Vienna, April 1966)
