I'm not really celebrating a birthday tomorrow

Dec 31, 2010 10:27

No, really, if you have me on birthday alert, January 1 is not my real birthday.  It, like Ruth Stewart,  is a fiction.
And I'm still working.  On work.  A lot.  Oh happy new year, NOT.  This means no writing for fun.  Really, at my age and seniority this should not be happening.

As it turns out MissPage was only one of several busy hitting the fav and alert keys on ff.net.  Seriously, where are you all coming from, what are you reading, and how do I thank you and what do you think of whatever it is that you are reading? It  is lovely and making up for a rotten week on top of a rotten holiday on top of a rotten autumn -- near health disasters do however provide a certain clarity of thought.

On the other paw, we did not get hit by Huge Snowpocalypse, as we got our share of white last year, followed power outages in winter and summer  So, my sincere condolences to those of you who are stranded, stuck, and digging out.  I feel your  pain.  Have an Advil and a glass of wine.

Also, autumnia , did you see the yuletide cross over between Narnia and Anthony Bourdain?  The stories are all here

This year in fandom?  A mixed bag.  TSG Part 2 ended with a whimpering slide that still's got me down, and more depressing still, I watched H&M kinda sorta die.  But, I didn't get the message and continued to write.  I  had two stories in the Narnia Fic Exchange, returned after a long absence to smut, and began AW.  I have, best of all, met some really lovely and interesting women along the way.  I battled the mid-summer urge to tear everything down and instead began cross posting over on AO3.  Also, I discovered that my very first fic, written over 15 years ago, is still getting recs.  I lost it about 3 computers ago, but it's still on one private archive, so I've started posting it on ff.net.  It's so quaint and the comma usage is really atrocious.

I saw Harry Potter three times, Narnia twice, read a lot of books about World War 2, went to an SPN Con with l_a_r_m , watched most of Merlin Season 3, fell in lurve with the adorkable Matt Smith as the new Doctor, and started running again.  I'm up to 6 miles at a stretch on the treadmill, so go me.

A Happy Near Year to you all!  I greatly, greatly value my imaginary friends and the fandoms that we share!

tqsit, i've been doing this a really long time, anonymous reviewers, feel the f-list love, birthdays, real life, harold and morgan, aw
