I figured there must be some theme being expounded upon in each section and its character focus, so I just assumed that was what was going on with the Cheetahs. Oh there were plenty of reasons for this meaningless digression, I had merely not added the one involving reflections upon duality.
1) A return to the issue of Lucy doing what Lucy will do, a reminder that she was "raised by Wolves," and there are limits even to what the General can accomplish with Lucy 2) The hints of the mistakes made in the year after Jadis, the Mole spies and the traitorous Mr. Noll (mentioned in TPG), and harkening back to Peter and Mary's discussion at the end of Part 1 about Alice, punishment first, trail after, and war crimes -- all relevant to where Part 3 is going and Edmund's story 3) A return to the more light-hearted animal antics of Part 1 that people liked, including the world building involving the taunting children and the phrase "Going all us Lions" as well as reference to Morgan of the sidelined H&M story 4) An illustration of Peter's longing for romantic fulfillment which continues to elude him, as well as a depiction of where and how he is happiest -- on the road, with companions 5) foreshadowing his service with the gliding gryphons and issues of command and control 6) the reflections upon the Guard so that when Asim essentially offers his services, Peter is in the right frame of mind to see it and accept it
Seriously, I would be so lost without you all. Letit pointed out something in her review that I KNEW about and she made the connection before I did. I probably would have, eventually, but when it came up in her review I went all FLAIL.
Part 2 would not have existed without reviewer comments. The title of Part 3 is due to Miniver. This happens over and over.
