Oh, it is good to see them united and all misunderstanding (mostly) out of the way. I liked the foreshadowing of the events of AHaHB in this. I admit, I'm not quite sure of Willa's thoughts about the Meryls, but think that was my own forgetfulness of something.

Oh! One other thought... the cat is Aslan, right? That Peridan talks to? I now really want a story about the Archenlanders! You make delightful Original Characters.

Yes, the cat is Aslan! He tends to show up a lot as a cat and in Palace Guard he appears before Jalur but no one else can see him. Someone said in a review that maybe I was linking spirituality to mental illness and that's not it at all. But, borrowing from Chalion, Aslan can drive his chosen ones very hard and if they resist, it's not good for anyone. And I did like playing with the idea of whether those who hear voices are really hearing someone's voice or if it's all "in their head." Varieties of religious experience and such, and whether saints are blessed or mad, or maybe some of both -- something I explore a bit with Lucy, too ( ... )

I find the idea of the saints being blessed or mad a very intriguing one (and I also found myself very interested in his family's reaction as well). I hope you continue to play with those ideas :)

I know you're self-conscious about the work you've done on Harold and Morgan, but I am so thrilled that you've finished. You set just the right tone, too--recently, I reread H&M and you did such lovely parallels between their first night together and their wedding night. And especially ending with Wrasse. Lovely.

And the slightly ominous ending was ideal. I can't tell you how much I loved it. Because that's life, right? Even when you're thrilled, it's still not perfect. And the looking forward to Rabadash. I'd love to see you write that in your universe (but I'm also excited that you are, I think, moving back to Apostolic Way?). How wonderful is pragmatic Susan? Why doesn't she use the interest and attraction for, gosh, what's his name, Morgan's father, to cement their interests on the Lone Islands? A much more pleasant prospect for Susan than Rabadash. Obviously, mainly because canon doesn't allow it, but I'm interested in your thoughts.

Thank you. Self-conscious and then some. This has ended badly -- story-wise -- very much like TQSiT. There's no joy of accomplishment, just a sense of failure to tell a story people wanted to finish ( ... )

I'm still catching up on the back chapters and probably will be for a while, but I just wanted to stop in and thank you here for sticking with Harold & Morgan. (And I'm sorry to hear about the discouragement. Emotions are uncooperative things. Just remember that you've done well, okay? Seriously, you have no need to worry about your writing abilities.)

It's fantastic that the whole story is now available for reading. There is a great deal of beauty to be found -- the humor, the care for details that make it seem real, the sense of everyday wonder. I appreciate the work you've done. :)
