That's my little Russian boy! He couldn't wait to get out in the snow, once he got up and saw it out the window, by which time we already had 10-11 inches. So once we got him fed and dressed, we bundled him up and went out in it for a half hour or so. He had a great time just wandering around in the snow, kicking his way through the partial paths I shoveled: except for a path to the car next to the road, I just shoveled off the top 6 inches or so, and we'd stomp our way through that. But he's still a little small and light for fighting his way through a foot of snow.
He wanted to go out again right before lunch, but we used lunch as an excuse to keep him inside - his gloves and stuff still needed to dry off, anyway. But we went out in the afternoon for maybe 45 minutes, and he loved it, even with the wind whipping snow into our faces.
I'll post pix as soon as I can, but I'm not promising any speed. Today was the day our babysitter was going to take Ilya for the entire day, so we could get our Christmas cards out and get organized for heading south on Wednesday. But the blizzard nixed that, obviously.
Weather Underground is forecasting another 4-6 inches tonight, for what they claim will be a total accumulation of 14-17 inches. Except that right now, we've already got 16-17 inches out there, so we're looking at more like 20-23 inches, which is easily our biggest December storm ever, and about as heavy as a snowstorm ever gets around here.
Anyway, our little Russian boy likes snow, and had a really great time out there today.
