Wind to your Sails!

Dear Mother,

I doubt that you will give a damn, but today I am leaving Amber for Minos.  It should come as no great surprise to you that I would make a reckless, foolish and completely impulsive decision to run even farther away from you.

I can't say how long that I'll be gone but I have made arrangements with the captain of a ship to get there.  He likes recreational knot tying, and the rest of my assorted skill set.

It is possible that we will be attacked by pirates,  run into deadly storms or be best by any number of fantastic and horrible things throughout this journey.  I'm certainly looking forward to it.  Don't you love adventures?  I mean you must have had  a few in your day.

Before I leave Amber,  I wanted to thank you for making me the woman that I am today:

Thank you for raising me to be strong and fantastically independent in thoughts, deeds, and wicked enthusiastic actions.  Thank you for encouraging me to be vicious, cruel and mean.   Lastly, thank you for teaching me that I am the most important person in my world.  If it weren't for you, I might have actually been happy with Martin--enough to give him the type of affection he needs and requires.  Because of you, I was fiercely happy with Ivor and his sensational fabrics.  And, because of you, I'm going to one day, some day shake walls with--you know, I'll leave something to your imagination.

Do you think that I am telling you these things to make you mad at my indiscretion?  You encouraged me to have no secrets, possibly because you were in such great possession of them that we couldn't have anymore in the family closets.

Wind to Your Sails Mother,
Heulwen
