Dear diary,
A confusing week.
Grandmother died last Friday; I found out Saturday. One of her guards decided to steal her collection of jewelry and killed her in the process. M has done a good job of keeping me grounded for the last week, and even though I don't really miss her, she was my grandmother and I do mourn her loss.
I hired a solicitor to finalize her affairs. According to him, House Morfilod has been meddling in her affairs for years, and - although the paper trail isn't clear - the guards that she employed might have been Morfilod's guards.
Now I find out that the new captain of the guard, Maddock - charming, friendly, offered to teach me to fight - is in fact Maddock Morfilod.
Caution is my watchword, from now on. Desmond wants to kill me, and Maddock's family may have been involved in Grandmother's death; the idea that he may be here, in part, to kill me is chilling.
If someone's reading this, tell Mostyn I'm sorry I wasn't cautious enough, and that I'll miss him.
On the plus side, Leyson is back. He's nice to have around, even though I feel awkward about giving him hugs.
