I haven't posted in a while since I've had a lot of stuff on my mind.
Most of you will have heard of the problems we're having with our kitchen, the mold and our insurance company. Suffice it to say that we're still doing all the work out of our own pocket. We are hoping that the independent adjuster will help us argue our case, but personally, I don't think he can get a settlement for us.
Because of the fact that we've been hemorrhaging money like a punctured aorta, I've been in a particularly foul mood for the last month. I just want to shout out a great big thank you to my wife
equusregia, my friends and my immediate and extended family for putting up with my toxic attitude.
I'm especially grateful to my wife, who has been trying to get my mind off the problems with the house. First, she helped orchestrate my 40th birthday by getting Mr. and Mrs.
m00nglum to surprise me on a visit. Then, she with the help of
kmriley got a birthday card around the country for my friends to sign and send me good wishes.
That made me forget I was getting to be an old man and we all had a blast tooling around the Mouse House. I also was particularly overjoyed to see my kids take to the
m00nglums so well. Apparently, Little Sue and Gillian were separated at birth. :)
Soon after they left we had
equusregia's parents come for a visit. My wife then sprung my next present on me. We got to see the
The Capital Steps live on stage. We've been listening to these people for years on our local NPR station and
equusregia got contributions from my friends to help pay for the tickets. Thanks
desdenova,
crouchback,
khedron and the family of
poguer for your generosity. The concert was a great way to take my mind off of my troubles.
So once again, I can smile knowing that I may be poor in terms of money now, I am immensely wealthy in my relationships of family and friends.
Thanks so much folks and hopefully in the near future I won't be in such a funk.
