I hope I can pull this off. So much for working on my narrative!

1. The extent of space between two objects or places; an intervening space.

“I’ve noticed you and my daughter have become rather…close as of late, Remus. In fact, if she were any closer to you at this moment, she’d be in your lap.”

“Mum!”

“With all due respect, Mrs Tonks-”

“Mrs Tonks! That’s funny!”

“Shut it, Sirius! Now…where was I?”

“You were about to chastise Remus and advise him that prescribed and acceptable distance between a man and a woman is fifteen centimetres, Mother.”

“Don’t take that tone of voice with me, Nymphadora. You’ve been keeping company with your cousin too much as of late.”

“Andi, you say that like it’s a bad thing!”

“I would have kept my distance years ago if I had known better, Padfoot.”

“Thanks, Moony.”

“Fifteen centimetres, please, Remus, so scoot. Um, Mum…even in bed?”

“Oh my God. Sirius, please stop laughing. It encourages her!”

2. The extent of time between two events; an intervening period.

The length or numerical value of a straight line or curve.
        a. The extent of space between points on a measured course.
        b. A stretch of space without designation of limit; an expanse

Emotional separateness or reserve; aloofness.

“Why are you packing everything, Remus?”

“You know why, Nymphadora.”

“But…you’ll be back and forth. To see me…And for Order meetings. Won’t you be?”

“No. I can’t leave the pack once I join it. And I don’t know how long I’ll be gone and I’m not sure where the pack is. Probably quiet a distance from any civilised place.”

“You’re not joining them, you’re spying on them.”

“How can I spy on my fellows? I’m just like them.”

“You are nothing like them, Remus Lupin! There is a world of distance between you and them! And don’t you ever say that again.”

“Thank you, but only I pretend to be human. On the inside, there’s no difference.”

“Goddamn Dumbledore and this stupid idea of a mission! Please, stay safe.”

“Goodbye, Dora.”

“I love you, Remus.”

“I…Goodbye, Dora”

3. A distant point, place, or region.

An amount of progress.

“My feet are killing me. And my ankles are all swollen!”

“Do you want me to rub them, Dora?”

“No! Keep your distance and stay over there! This…situation is your entire fault!”

“I hate to break it to you, but I’d say we’re both responsible for the…situation you now find yourself in.”

“Thank you so much, my love, I am aware of that. Look at me! I’m huge!”

“I think you look beautiful.”

“Ha! You’re delusional! But at least you can say it now. You’ve come a great distance…emotionally, that is.”

“Are we back to ‘stupid but noble bastard’ again?”

“Yes. But you’re my stupid but noble bastard, Remus, and I love you for it.”

“Cut him a line, Nymphadora. And I was the same size, if not bigger, when I was pregnant with you.”

“You were not, Mum. I’ve seen pictures. Darling, if you’re going to risk your life and sit next to me while I’m… irritable, at least give me a massage.”

“Prop your feet in my lap, sweetheart, and I shall. And, Dora, I love you too.”
