Summary: Remus finds Tonks on the floor in tears.
He found her on the floor; eyes red and puffy, tears streaming down her face. He knelt down beside her, enveloping her in his arms, and planted gentle kisses in her pink, spiky hair.
“I-I-I was ma-ma-making you a c-c-cake,” she spluttered. “Th-th-the eggs b-b-broke.”
Gently rocking her back and forth, he looked around him. Flour streaked the walls, milk dripped from the table onto the flagstones, and, as she had said, eggs lay splattered on the floor.
Pulling back a little, he kissed her face, salty from all her crying.
“It’s alright. I know. It’s alright,” he whispered.
At this she started crying harder. Drawing her close, he held her until she calmed. Then, knowing it was not a time for magic, he got a cloth and wiped her face, hands, arms and hair. Carefully, he scooped her into his arms, and carried her into the bedroom. Lying down next to her, he soothed her hair; silent tears slipping down their cheeks until they finally succumbed to oblivion.
Tonight was a time for tears; tomorrow warriors would rise again.
