So I'm sitting here reading Paul Pope's blog for the first time (never really considered his work for any significant period before this) and I find myself making a realization about myself.
I suck at communication.
Seriously. I'm sitting here absorbing the language this guy utilizes... it's all so very... cosmopolitan.

Me, I rather ya know...talk, versus writing a paragraph using consistent metaphorical word play and subjecting my readers to needing to reference various sources and a dictionary like OH TOO FUCKING MANY artists tend to do. Of course you should know how to write, but you need not flex your ego every time you sit down to talk...I'm mean it's a blog, not an issue of the "New Yorker" for gods sake. I do however believe that while the internet is grounds for broken English and dialog, one doesn't have to go the normal route, and can be more literate...I mean, at least try to spell half the words you type out(Firefox now has a spell check system, hence there is NO excuse for poor spelling most times).
I won't say it's egotistical, it just seems like he weens out the unwanted mush of the internet by using a specific writing language that is most likely going to pass over most peoples heads, and only the most dedicated fans or literate people are going to follow. I have a very refined and consistent voice, but I tend to just relax online. When I write to someone in a more personal way, I bring that voice out(usually because I'm begging for art advice...and beggars must be highly subjective to get any kind of response). At the same time, I wouldn't say you're left without your own voice RSJ, just that you keep it simple and to the point, unlike people like me...who can type out multiple paragraphs in record time. This can be both a blessing, and a curse at the same time(especially if you abuse commas like me...and have ENDLESS sentences).
I blame Faulkner for this, the dude inspired me to learn to write sentences that could run half a page XD
