Themes Take Two (The Short List)

So, we got them down from 14 to a much more manageable seven.  Yay us!  Now let's discuss them, keeping in mind that we need to pick Team Designations as well, and we'll decide by Feb 14th.  Does that work?

This is truly the perfect theme for a transition year! It also encompasses some of the main tropes of Remus/Sirius, canon OR AU, and that has really great appeal.

Again, my only concern here is that there are people who might take it a little too literally and we could end-up with a lot of very similar stories. Traditionally, it seems like people who are a little newer to fandom really love the "firsts" (first kiss, first crush, first anniversary, first fight, first animagus experience, first transformation, etc.), and, personally, that can get a little old. Conversely, it also feels like people who've been in fandom longer tend to either go for "endings" or for things that have less to do with traditional canon/plot lines, etc. But that's just my observation.

Under the skilled hands of really experienced/talented/creative/innovative artists and writers (which we generally tend to have), I feel like this theme could really fly, but I also fear it could get a little bit stale if people don't really think about it or think outside the box. That means that it would be up to is to emphasize that. The first time Remus' pet turtle ran away and the time he finally stayed away. Sirius' first drag show. The last time they ate cheap Chinese take-away after drinking too much gin...

Rowan, did you say that you liked MWPP v. Post-Hogwarts for this one?

Yeah, I think MWPP vs Post-Hogwarts might work well for this one. But we might also want to encourage the teams to equally tackle firsts and lasts.
