WHATEVER

I was leaving the bank after business and he was coming in.

About 80+. Walking that old-man zombie shuffle.

Perched on his head was the ubiquitous ball cap. Flat bill.

Baseball fan? Nope. Seahawks fan? Nope.

WHATEVER.

That was his announcement to the world.

A teenage dismissal.

So, I thought, did he appreciate the humor of that statement?

I have a lot of older clients. Many are not quite all there.

As I am aging, I begin to wonder about what my "later" years will be like.

I DO NOT want to wear plaid shirts. Or suspenders. Or flat-billed ball caps.

But, I might wear a WHATEVER cap.

Because that word sums up my feelings about the world around me right now.

Interesting, isn't it, how one comes across that one word, that one image which sums up one's attitude to life.
