I feel the need to catch people up on the events of the last few weeks of my life.
From the end of April to the middle of May my boss went on a 2 and a half week cruise to Hawaii and left the senior broker in charge. We have normally had an ok we are not friends but we dont dislike each other relationship. However while the boss was gone she turned evil...she insisted on calling me child and treating me like a child and just being plain mean to me. It finally cam to a point that I no longer even wanted to go to work any more even after my boss came back. This continued after my boss came back but at a lesser degree. Unfortunately she is very good at being sweet and nice when everyone else is looking and denying everything when confronted. (Does anyone else think this sounds like middle school?) I of course told my boss what happened but I know there is not a whole lot he can do. While he was gone it got so bad that I went ahead and posted my resume on monster.com.
Well Merrill Lynch emailed me to setup and interview and after three interviews they offered me a job which I accepted. I wish I could stay at my current position but my coworker makes it impossible for me to do that. I gave my notice today to my boss, whom I really like by the way. It was really hard to do because I do like the company and him and besides her there are really no other reasons for me to leave.
Amidst all of this, as most of you know I suffer from chronic headaches and always have. Well June 1st(Wednesday) after a particularly hard day at work I developed a horrible headache as soon as I got home. So I took some Excedrin and went to bed. When I woke up in Thursday morning I thought I would be ok so I got up and went on my way to go to work. I got about a half a mile from the house when I started feeling dizzy and nauseous and my head started hurting even worse than before. In fact this was the worst pain I have ever felt in my entire life. I kept driving hoping it would pass but eventually I had to pull over and I just managed to get the car into park and the door open before I got sick. From there I had an ambulance pick me up because I was having trouble even staying sitting up, I was having blurred and double vision and the pain in my head was worsening.
I spent most of the day in the emergency room at St Francis where they took blood and did a CT scan and tried to talk me into a lumbar puncture. (I do not like needles...especially not ones in my back!) They gave me lots of drugs. My headache finally went away Saturday afternoon. The hospital recommended I see a neurologist as soon as possible. So the next Monday I called the neurologist's office and they said they could get me in on Oct 3rd. I am thinking......my head might explode...and you can get me in in OCTOBER???????????? So they put me on their cancellation list and lo and behold someone actually cancelled 30 minutes later so I got in that day! They dont know what is wrong yet. My CT scans came back clean but I have since done MRA and MRI scans. The doctor also put me on some medication that is actually an anti seizure medication. I take it every night and I have only had two headaches in the last two weeks. I usually have 2-3 headaches per day so I think that is wonderful improvement! Also the two headaches I have had have been very minor headaches. THe other great thing about the medicine is it causes you to lose weight. I have lost about 12 pounds already. yey!!!
Hopefully they figure out what is causing my headaches but even if they dont at least I have a medication that will lessen the frequency and the pain of the headaches.
