I also love the idea of wild hippogriffs, especially their beauty and this little bit of foreshadowing:The hippogriffs seemed satisfied as long as the pair of boys continued to keep their distance, which they did, despite Sirius’s jokes about saddling one up and riding it off into the sunset. Remus ended up with an entire scroll of notes. That made me smile.
The idea of Remus worrying about this clothes not matching (and the request for the blue jumper) was darling, too. It was just one of those great little bits that added a darling depth to the story.

You can't have known that I grew up in the Rockies, so the mountainous setting is all too perfect! I love the romance of the sunset kiss, and Sirius's experimentation with chocolate and portkeys, and the hints at Sirius's later Buckbeak adventures.
