i do not think that it is possible for piece to be any more "team place" than that. i have never been to australia and yet i rather feel like i have. the sun, the heat, the smell of the sea were all very visceral and real. in fact, the setting was almost like a character in and of itself and i found myself entranced by each new scene.

and your characters were real and lovely, too. i could very much relate to everyone, and sirius very much had my heart. you also did an incredible job translating wizardry into modern australia; sirius' incarceration and feelings about freedom were perfectly rendered. teddy and victoria were particularly interesting and it was really wonderful to see teddy grow up like that.

beautiful writing, beautiful setting, beautiful characters, and a beautiful story.

Aaaaah this was so incredibly lovely!
I got quite the surprise as soon as I read the word, "snag"- surely not. Is it? AN AUSTRALIAN AU! haha
But really, your descriptive language was all so wonderful, and I loved the way that you centred this story around the three of them, with Teddy growing up. Just little glimpses, but they all felt so full of love and genuine affection, and I am so head over heels for that!
You really nailed the whole idea of, "place", as well. I often think that it would be very difficult to write about Australia, without that focus on the environment, because it is such a large part of existence here (hello, bias talking). It sort of felt like a fourth character here, and such a well written one at that. There was a properly visceral, dirt under fingernails, kind of a feel to it all, and i loved your description of the stars as being a bowl of diamonds. Really so good!
This was such a special thing!

Oh I love this. What a beautiful showcase of their relationship. I love the changing POVs. It gives it such a well rounded feel. Particularly the last bit from Teddy's POV. It's so nice to see their relationship from the perspective of an outsider. And that incredibly poignant scene when Teddy came up to Sirius at the gallery showing. My heart!

This is just lovely!

Everything about this was beautiful - the detail of the setting, the way you portrayed the comfort in all their relationships, the tone of each person's perspective, the water linking everything together, the sense of found family and especially how real Teddy (and Harry) felt for his age throughout.

Teddy looking and sounding so ridiculously happy playing pirates pricked something deep in my heart too! Remus and his "charmed resignation because he has no idea what Sirius is doing at least twice a day, and the morning is getting on a bit" just struck me somehow as summing up why they work so brilliantly together :) Fantastic job.

Wonderful! I love your writing; beautiful prose all the way through, and it pulls me in and keeps me there, making me see and hear everything you describe. Every POV worked really well, and they all worked even better because of the other two, giving us layers and knowledge that made each POV all the more poignant. Love the summary as well, it almost became a part of the story. Gorgeous work!
