“Are you wearing cologne?” asked Remus, wrinkling his nose.
“Well, it is a party,” replied Sirius. Raising an eyebrow, he laughed softly to himself and ran his hands over his velvet dress robes. Despite some rather distressing childhood memories, Sirius adored velvet. It was soft and smooth, like the underbelly of certain puppies.
“Yes, but you never wear cologne,” said Remus. “You claim it burns your throat and makes you smell like Muggle chemical warfare - not that you have any clue what that actually means.” He frowned slightly as he smoothed invisible wrinkles from the raw silk dress robes. The robes had been a gift from Sirius who claimed the rich, warm brown would compliment his eyes. Remus was unsure of the color - color was generally Sirius’ department - but he loved the cool wash of the heavy silk, like moonlight falling over his skin.
“Nah, it’s not cologne., Moony It’s that kombucha stuff that that Muggle Mod gave us. I like it. It’s fizzy and it gives me energy.”
“It’s disgusting,” Remus countered. “and it tastes like stale beer.” He pulled on his new boots, sending up a silent prayer that they would not give him blisters. “I hope they have better food than that dreadful stuff at the party,” he added.
“They must,” Sirius said firmly. “They have people from eighteen countries and just as many US states. Somewhere along the line, there should be good food.”
Remus nodded. “Fair point.”
“Hey, y’all, are you ready?” called a low and cheerful voice. It was
brighty18. “Everyone is waiting.”
“Are you singing or speaking?” snapped Remus. He winced slightly at the sound of his own voice. Officially, he was still smarting about her story about his being pants at potions, though, in his heart of hearts, he couldn’t quite deny it.
“Leave off her, love,” laughed Sirius. “It was only a story… and it wasn’t far from the truth.”
Remus sighed and shook his head. “You say that because your special story by
pica_scribit was all about feeling and smelling things and Merlin knows how you love feeling and smelling things.”
“Woof!” barked Sirius in reply.
“Be that as it may,” broke in
cackling_madly in the confident-yet-exasperated tone of one who was quite used to resolving disputes. “We don’t want to be late for the party. People are depending on us!”
“That’s right!” ordered
whitestar, “We’re already late, and we need to leave NOW!”
Sirius looked at her with narrowed eyes. “Wait,” he began, “Aren’t you the bird who wrote about red satin sheets and…”
“The threesome!” squeaked Remus.
“Yes,”
whitestar replied calmly. “What of it? That has absolutely nothing to do with the issue at hand.”
“Erm… I just thought it was fun?” muttered an uncharacteristically flustered Sirius. Muggles could be so intimidating sometimes! Though they did make good beverages.
“Look, no offense, but everyone is waiting on us,” suggested
brighty18.
“And they’ve all worked so hard!” added
cackling_madly.
“STOP THIS NONSENSE AT ONCE! LET’S GET MOVING!” cried
pica_scribit in a very credible Scottish brogue. The entire room turned to stare: the Muggles impressed at her vocal abilities and the Wizards still shaking in their boots at thoughts of McGonagall. “Well, then!” continued Pica with a smile. “Shall we be off?”
And with a poof of Floo Powder, they were off.

The excited murmur of the crowd fell to silence as the four Mods and two Wizards entered the room. Even the silver clinking of glasses ceased.
Sirius looked around and sniffed delicately. “Food smells smashing,” he said with a smile. He poked Remus in the ribs. “See, Moony, I told you the food would be good.”
Remus sighed. “We’re not so much here for the food as we are to make an announcement.”
“And…” asked a participant, excitement oozing from her voice.
A Mod handed an envelope to each wizard, and Sirius grinned as he tore open the heavy, cream-colored paper. “You ready, Moony?” he asked. “On three!”
Remus nodded.
“AND THE WINNER IS…” cried Sirius. He lowered his voice to a whisper. “One… two… three…”
“TEAM MUGGLE!” shouted Remus.
“TEAM MAGIC!” yelled Sirius.
“Huh?” asked a participant.
Yes, folks, for the very first time in RS_Games history, we have a tie! Each Team scored exactly 385.258 points (with an average score of 18.346). We Mods counted and recounted many times, but the results were always the same. We always go on and on about how everyone who participates in RS_Games is a winner and this time, it’s quite literally true!
Fun Facts about The Games:
• We are very international! Including the Mods, we had participants from: Australia (several states), Austria, Brazil, Canada (several provinces), Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, India, Norway, Philippines, Poland, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sweden, Turkey, and the UK.
• We also had participants from the following US States: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington.
There could be more states and countries, but not everybody said where they lived.
• Together, we all wrote more than 240,000 words
• In general, this year’s entries were much shorter than in previous years, but also better received.
• RS Games 2014 has the highest scores (and highest average score) on record with RS_Games.
19 stories (10 from Team Magic and 9 from Team Muggle) were sent to the Snitch, but recommendations for all stories came from both sides.
• Ratings: five stories were rated “G,” seven were rated “PG,” twenty were rated “PG-13/T,” seven were rated “R/M,” and two were
NC17.”
• Angst dominated Team Magic with 13 pieces self-identifying as “angst” (as compared with 6 Team Muggle pieces that identified that way).
• Romance dominated Team Muggle with 14 pieces self-identifying as “romance” (as compared with 7 Team Magic pieces that identified that way).
• AU, fluff, and hurt/comfort were also quite popular.
