You Saw the Clouds Above, But I Saw the Universe )
“I’m just sorry that I never knew, really, and that I…I never asked.” Because James had known something was wrong.
Sirius had known that James had known. But he’d never asked and Sirius had never told. They were young, after all, and neither of them had known what to do. -- That is an important conversation, and you handled it really well.
“Feeling myself? What you mean is, how about we recommit you until you’re feeling like one of us again?” -- That is also important and wow you phrased it well.
“Sirius? You know, those deaf people out there? They don’t all want to hear what we hear; the cacophony of sounds after a lifetime of peace. They don’t all want to speak in our language. Why don’t we all learn to speak theirs?” -- OH MY GOD, bless you, Mystery Author.
Oh MAN this is such a creative muggle AU, and you really built up the world it's in beautifully. Your language is flowing but precise, and your characters are great-James and Lily are funny and in love, Sirius is cynical and makes me go D: , and oh my god bipolar!Remus. What an interesting take on his illness. You know, I'd been thinking that Sirius is usually the one I would peg for bipolar (I need to write him that way more, because I just read some great meta on that, but I digress), but using canon lycanthropy in a muggle AU as a parallel for all sorts of ~othered~ disabilities is SO GREAT. And the way your Remus puts it all is SO GREAT. Gah, thank you.
