Dear participants, readers, members of the
rs_games community and everyone else,
We sincerely apologize for today's mess. Yes, indeed, we did inadvertently post the same story (from Team Sirius) twice. Basically, what happened is this: There were two stories from two different Team Sirius authors with the same title, "To Hell and Back." For the sake of anonymity, we will call the authors "Author X" and "Author Y." Ironically, the stories had a very similar word count, too.
All works were posted to DreamWidth over a period of several days, and this took place long before we began posting to LJ. We made every attempt to pair works that might compliment each other as far as word count, genre, etc. Obviously, it would be impossible for this to work perfectly, but we did our best. The works were posted in order and numbered by day. You can see that if you look at the top of the DW post. All works are tracked on a spreadsheet which extensively covers everything from author and title to word to days posted to LJ and DW and much, much more.
Each day of the fest, a different Mod links the daily DW works to LJ and makes the appropriate adjustments to the
remusxsirius, etc. Author X's story was posted on Day 14 and Author Y's story (with the same name and similar word count) was meant to be posted on Day 32. Unfortunately, someone accidentally posted Author X's story twice on DW. The spreadsheet still reflected that Day 14 was Author X and the Day 32 was Author Y, but the same story was inadvertently inserted twice by the person who made the DW postings. (As it turns out, this was due to a tiny error on the part of Author Y who gave us an incorrect word count which accidentally set off a chain of very unfortunate events.) When another Mod did the daily link, she checked the spreadsheet and noted that the title was correct. Unfortunately, the title was correct, but the author was not. This was a huge error on the part of the Mods, and we are very, very, VERY sorry.
To be fair, the posts from both Teams were removed. Otherwise, it be uneven and one Team's works would have more of a chance to be seen/read than the other. However, please be assured that no information was lost. All the comments and votes were saved. When the correct stories are posted, the comments from the Team Remus submission ("A Good Deed") will be reposted and the votes cast will be added in.
Again, we apologize for the error. Regular posting will resume tomorrow.
