“It’s just,” Remus said, his voice faltering in the dark. It would be easier if he could see his face. “It would be so difficult.”
“Remus,” Sirius said. His voice sounded thick, and tired. “It was just a kiss. I’m trying to sleep.”
Sirius being so resolute in the fact that it didn't matter. All the usual aches and pains of this pair were in here, but that moment really stood out to me as truly painful. The sort of pain that didn't come from the war and what the world threw at them, but of their own making, and that's always much worse.
Oh, and that Remus kept that card, even when he though Sirius had done it, that was such a little detail that said so very much. Poor Remus.
This whole thing was simply astounding. Truly wonderful story.
