Dear Samuel Huntington,
Your famous work "Clash of Civilizations" happens to make its way into almost every International Relations classroom, prefaced with the remarks: 'this man presents an incomplete and highly fallible theory. um. but we study him anyway'. Highlights include dividing the world into eight "civilizations": Western, Confucian, Japanese, Islamic, Hindu, Slavic-Orthodox, Latin American, and African. Because 'African' is one civilization. Please shoot me if you don't see the problem with basing a theory on this awful premise. Anyway, I have to write an exam essay about you. And, while your theories give much inspiration for analysis and criticism, your poorly organized essay makes researching quite abhorrent.
