I have no idea why I continue to be obsessed with Twilight. I read the Midnight Sun excerpt on Stephenie Meyer's blog. I fervently hope it will actually be written and published. I found the books at Costco. The first one was half-price in paperback, so I bought it, despite the fact that we have very little money to be throwing around right now. ( Read more... )

My boyfriend started reading them because every girl we know said that the writing sucked but the story was interesting and he wanted to know what it was all about. He's on the last book now and complains about how often she talks about how beautiful the guy is but still he reads on and I even think he'll be disappointed when it's over. Weird. I have zero desire to read them but I just think it's hysterical he's flying through them.

That sounds a lot like me. Max forbade me from reading them, so a new friend all but forced me to read the first one. Then, I could barely put them down. It's the characters, really, I think. They're interesting, even if Meyer can't write particularly well. The description of Bella becoming a vampire is really good though.

My theory is that when things go awry, another world is comforting. Nothing deeper than that. And there's no responsibility in Bella's world. Something that attracts any mother/wife/working woman...

I think it's the electricity between them. All the electricity between them, the furtive glances and the smoldery looks. It's the way we all think love should be, the way we all long for it to be. He's beautiful and he's always there for her. He's the perfect man.

Well, except for the blood-sucking thing. But you know, details, lol.
