When they're alone together for the first time since they learned the news, Nakamaru apologizes to Kame.
They're in a room somewhere in the agency's building. After hours of meetings and talks that led nowhere, everyone had finally left. Ueda still has his play to focus on, apologetic he lets his hand linger on Nakamaru's shoulder when he leaves.
They let themselves bask in the silence before they get up, ready to leave.
That's when Nakamaru turns to Kame.
I'm so sorry Kame
His voice is small as though crushed, and trampled yet desperately trying to get back up.

Kame's heart leaps off stage and all of a sudden Kame is terrified. He knows Nakamaru's hurt is so deep because to him it's like his friends are all leaving one by one. Ripping themselves from the safety and warmth of Nakamaru's heart.
But when Kame thinks of his friends, the feeling is incomparable to when he thinks about his members. They're not friends, their bond isn't so weak. Kame is terrified of losing all of that. Terrified of just being friends.
"Thank you Nakamaru. I'll be alright. Everything will be alright, I've been talking to Johnny and-"
He lets the sentence die when Nakamaru's tears overflow.
You've done enough Kame, even if everything isn't alright, you're not to blame.
Nakamaru hugs him. Not too tight, not too close but it springs hope into Kame. Maybe for once he won't take one step after the other. Maybe this time he'll let himself be dragged screaming and crying all the while clinging tightly to Nakamaru's sleeve.
