WHATUP?!?

I am sitting in the very empty Computer Science student lounge at 3 PM on a Friday. It looks like it's 7 PM, due to the overcast sky and the fact that the sun sets at like 4 every day!

I've been in London for several months now, and I am still enjoying myself supremely. I am still sitting at the edge of my seat looking forward to coming to Rochester. Not only will I be able to reclaim coats, socks, gloves, scarves, hats, and other winter apparel that were neglectfully abandoned at home, but I get to experience all the Rochestery things I love the most. This includes, but is not limited to, Great Northern Pizza Kitchen, Spot, Java's, California Rollin, all 6 Starbucks on the road that is Monroe/Main St/etc, indoor malls, and driving a car! Quite exciting.

London has been a blast. It is amazing to be able to saunter out of my dorm over to the Thames and see Westminster Palace and the Thames. I haven't travelled too much, yet...I'm saving that for next semester. We did get to go out to see Stonehenge. Of course, there was my epic trip to Spain, on which we hit 4 cities in 7 nights (with only three nights in hotels!). I have decided to count Girona as one of the cities in Spain, even though our experience there was limited to angrily sleeping on the floor of an airport after the cancellation of our flight. Well, to be fair, we did leave the airport around 1 AM, and we experienced the manure-smelling fog of the region. Barcelona, Seville, and Madrid are all solid cities (Madrid, perhaps not as solid as the other two.....that could be me).

Academics have been interesting. My class on Athenian law, however dry, was enjoyable. I'm taking a Linguistics class and a Logic class for the whole year; they are the kind of class that fades into the background, as they require little time and effort. My computer classes are interesting....or something. Computational Complexity is, uh, complex. The Group Project is just that, and it has been quite a learning experience (the fools made me Project Manager....ha! They put the nails on their own coffin there).

I have secured a non-paying internship with Yahoo! (FUCKING EXCLAMATION POINT) Europe. Apparently I will be assisting in the development of some kind of customer service statistics application. That's about all I can say without violating the NDA (OK, so there's no NDA. But it sounds so much cooler to say there is). I will probably have to learn about databases. Somehow they got the impression that I know about databases, even though nothing of the sort is suggested in my resume. They got worked.

I am no longer alone, as four people have arrived in this room. I believe they are my representatives to the Computer Science department. They will probably talk for quite a while about the insidious behavior of the Computer Science administration with regards to the termination of the CS Student Lounge at the end of this semester. One of them is this very intimidating man of Arab descent. When discussing methods of retaining the lounge, he mentioned that a "public demonstration" would be the most effective means to their goal. I was compelled to recommend IEDs, but decided that it may be frowned upon.

I'll see you all in a couple weeks.
