Here sits this little corner of the world in which I can say anything I want to, on any given day, and I missed saying a word about John Lennon. Yesterday was the 25th anniversary of his murder....and he should be remembered. I remember upon learning of his death, my first feeling ; this was no accident.
We know it was not an accident, but my feeling was much more than that. It was the feeling that we were all to stop and take serious notice; that he died for a cause.
He wrote and sang alot about Peace, and he was probably hated for that. Imagine that.....? "Imagine."
One of his songs. I think Peace truly seemed possible to him. I think he may have actually had hope for Peace on earth. So many of us do that at first glance it's such an ordinary hope; a common wish for man. An ordinary, even overly used phrase;......."Peace on Earth."
Yet Peace on earth is so far fetched at becoming a reality that it then becomes not so ordinary.
The hope for Peace on this earth is actually quite extraordinary. The very thoughts that helped John Lennon write songs like "Imagine".
He was a great artist and probably a great man to know. I know he influenced me to look at the true idea of Peace, which in itself is about as huge as one gets. And so I remember John Lennon not only for his music, but as one of the greatest men of all time. If Hope for Peace is what he instilled in even a handful of people, then he was highly successful as a human being. I think we were fortunate to have him be a part of our world. Do you remember where you were when you heard of his death?
