Summary: Just a random conversation. To be honest I have NO idea where this was going. Turned out to be pretty plotless
It was odd. No wait. Not odd. It was stupid. Daniel was just too weak. It almost made Rorschach sick, almost. Rorschach would never actually throw up over such foolish actions. Waste his bile on weaknesses he had thought Daniel had forgotten... It was stupid of him to expect anything other than wide eyed morality from his... Friend? Yes. Friend. Of course.
But it was at these points. Where the air grew cold and the afternoons grew darker that he could have sworn he could see Daniel change. This slightly scared him. Did criminals notice this? They may use it as a way to fight back. He was becoming very careless. Too careless. Maybe everyone could see it like himself.... But no, it wasn't as obvious as Rorschach had assumed. He only saw this because he knew the man too well.
The idea stayed in his head. What if Daniel is getting too weak? Or losing hope? What if he resigns and leaves Rorschach on his own again. NO that won't happen. He wouldn't. Too smart to listen to lies. Veidt's dirty little lies. No. He wouldn't.
Just as thoughts passed through Rorschach's mind he heard a low cough opposite him. The bubble of which he was always consumed was blown and his now obsolete ideas were scattered.
"You know you've been sitting there thinking for hours... Sometimes I swear you're in another world Rorschach" Dan said, mouth painted as a wide grin. Why did he always smile. Not good for future. Wrinkles. "wish I could. Better. No filth" Rorschach lifted his mask to the bridge of his nose taking a sip of his now cold tea. Dan shook his head slightly, it was odd that you could get used to this mans morbid ramblings of how shit humanity is and how it's all our fault.
"yeah I bet it would.." Dan sighed whilst he watched Rorschach, watching his Adams apple bob as he drank like a person who had been left for dead in the dessert. The muscles in his neck flexed and Daniel was just captivated by how little the lower half of your face seemed to stand out. It was then he realised Rorschach was staring at him back.
Shit.
He tried to change the subject.
"You know.. Laurie's been saying that Jon's getting more distant from humanity" Dan took another sip of his coffee watching the table’s surface intently, didn't want Rorschach to see him blush stupidly.
"hrmm good for him." 'as expected' Dan thought to himself. He looked up finally feeling the blush subside "Well... I guess he's blue and glows ....he can see through time and space... He walks around in undies.. I guess he has a right to distance himself.... Poor Laurie" the last two words were soft. He knew Rorschach hated Laurie but he couldn't help feel sorry for her.
"Feeling sorry for whores? Stupid." Dan felt a little sting from that. Why was he always this way when it came to women? He never seems to share a positive point of view on them "You know.. I don't get what's your problem with women.." Rorschach snorted loudly, sometimes Dan thought that was his way of laughing. But then again. Could just be mocking his idiotic tendencies.
"I do not have a problem Daniel. Only whores. Selling selves for money. Not right. Laurie just as bad. Stole husband from wife. Broke up marriage. Ruined home. Wife was good. Not whore. Good to her husband. Laurie ruined it" Rorschach rolled his mask back down, Dan could understand that. Laurie did ruin a relationship. She did break a marriage. But then again she didn't sell herself for money so it wasn't just as bad.
"Yeah but... Some prostitutes are just doing their job to feed their children" Rorschach froze. Did he say something wrong? It didn't matter, he knew he had a valid point. "They wouldn't have children if legs were closed" Dan felt Rorschach change slightly, almost grow with anger, he could see it in his posture.
"But-" Dan was about to say something but Rorschach cut in, he pushed the table a little forward violently as he spoke "Whores should not have excuses Daniel. Bad people. Bad mothers. Never good. Never! Hate themselves and children. Make children hate too" Dan sensed he hit a nerve there. It was pretty obvious with the way Rorschach was shaking.
Dan knew Rorschach must of had a rough passed. He never asked about it, never really wondered about it. Okay..... That was a lie. He wondered but he never really pressed on the issue. He figured Rorschach would tell him when he was ready.
But would he ever be ready? That was the question that was quite prominent. "alright Rorschach.. I'm sorry" he gave in. When Rorschach knew he was right, you had no choice but to agree.
