I agree with what you said about Mazzello's ability to convey emotions through his eyes. His talent is beginning to reveal itself and I thought he was fantastic in this episode.

Interesting that you would have liked to see Snafu's character develop a la Ronnie Gibson. I don't know if that would've worked..my impression of Shelton was that the moment Eugene met him he was already amoral and jaded by war. On screen, I like how his eccentricity just waltzed into the picture, it makes him a standout right away. Not to take any thing away from Gibson, I thought that his character development was brilliant and Tom Budge did an outstanding job. He went from nervous guy in the background to complete psycho, it was amazing.

I also really liked the scene where Sid tries to burn a crab with his lighter and Eugene stops him. His transformation is so much more apparent when you put him next to the fresh and naive Eugene.

The length of the episodes are a constant annoyance every week. One of the producers said (I think it was Bruce McKenna) that the length was cut down for purely creative reasons.. I don't buy that answer at all. There were so many instances where the extra time could've been used to make things not look rushed.

I thought this was the strongest out of the 5, definitely didn't disappoint. The next part should be equally, if not, even better.
