(6) Deadly Encounters
The Cyberman fired. Then all hell broke loose.
The blast didn't travel in a straight line. It looped around, striking a tree far to the right. The cyberman swivelled, releasing its hold on the Doctor.
The Doctor leapt to his feet, shouting "Run!" Jo followed him immediately, not planning on letting the multi-coloured coat out of her sight.
The cyberman turned, and fired several shots after the Doctor, and again turned in surprise as trees burst into flames left right and centre. As the Doctor disappeared into the dense foliage, the cyberman felt himself being pulled at. It activated it's internal com.
"This is scout five, reporting from sector 112. Am under attack from unknown assailants! The Doctor has been sighted! Returning to base!" As its arms and legs flailed about wildly, the cyberman strained to maintain control. Clods of dirt erupted into the air, sending several small trees and bushes flying. The cyberman, disoriented, lost balance and fell over. As it looked into the newly cleared sky again, it noted several creatures flying away, in the general direction of the Doctor. The Commander had to be informed.
