[Action] Heroes never back down EXCEPT FROM THIS!

Apr 02, 2011 21:04

[Down the streets of Never Was, Snow runs at top speed -- coat trailing, fists pumping, looking over his shoulder every so often.]

[What's he's looking at? A big chocobo -- like a chocobo and a half again -- racing down the street after him, murder in its eyes. The only reason it hasn't caught him yet is because every so often it pauses to flap ( Read more... )

[What was it with them all chasing people? Fang can barely hold on to the one she'd basically captured and was riding all around town when she sees Snow run by and - whoa, apparently that particular bird had anger issues.]

Huh. Guess you've got special talents, eh?

[Pats her chocobo's neck and wonders if she should butt in or help. She'd already rescued Kefka and all.]

[Snow spares enough of his attention to give Fang a dirty look]

I never had this problem on Pulse! Why can it throw meteors?!

Beats me. [She's totally trying not to laugh.] Maybe it's a special one, juuust for you!

[If chocobos could've thrown meteors, Gran Pulse would've been a mess long before she became a l'cie. Maybe it was a Never Was-specialty. Whatever the case, getting crushed by a meteor probably isn't the way Snow wants to go, so she rides her chocobo alongside the meteor-throwing one and hops on its back when it stops, successfully stopping it from throwing anymore burning rocks on hero boy.]

That's a good girl. [Ruffles her neck feathers] What's got a beauty like you all bothered, hmm?

Yeah, it kinda is my size, isn't it?

[The hero, no longer needing to run, is hiding behind a corner, peering out carefully.]

[The chocobo, on the other hand, is cheerfully preening itself in response to Fang's attention... alternating with glaring at Snow when it sees the other l'cie peeking.]

Still not as big as the ones on Gran Pulse, though.

[Fang slides down to her feet and keeps ruffling feathers lest it run off and throw something worse than a meteor on Snow.] Something else must've gotten you so mad, huh? [Preen preen. Fang apparently has a chocobo weakness.]

[Snow won't tell anyone. Because he's really grateful. As hilarious as it otherwise is to see Fang getting all sweet and mushy.]

Yeah, but the ones there were nicer and less 'destroy you with magic'. I think I kinda miss them now.

Gotta wonder what world's so lucky to have meteor-throwing chocobos.

[Unless...it was the mist or something. Hmm. Either way, Fang gives the Snow-chasing one another pat, letting out a short laugh when she glares at Snow again.]

What'd you do to her? She's likely to peck your eyes out at this rate.

I was just going over to say hi, nothing worse than what you're doing! I don't know!

[Though at that, the chocobo seems to decide it has pressing business elsewhere, and turns to trot off in the direction it came.]

It likes YOU anyway... maybe you can figure it out?

[Arches an eyebrow.]

Maybe she just doesn't like males.

Why would they... can they even tell the difference?

Probably. They're smarter than they look.

[The one she was riding earlier is still there and suddenly nudges at her. More feather ruffling.]

Gettin' jealous, are you?

...How can YOU tell the difference with them, anyway? They weren't exactly common sights in Bodhum.

They used to be far more common in Gran Pulse. Vanille adored them and would always be draggin' me to their nesting grounds on the outskirts of Oerba. When you're around 'em for so long, you figure out that girls don't have quite as many feathers on top.

[As if to illustrate this, the chocobo lowers her head and Fang scratches it with a little half-smile.]

These sure ain't Gran Pulse chocobos, but I figure it applies no matter what sort they are.

That makes sense, I guess. They DO all look more or less alike when you come right down to it, don't they?

For the most part, looks like.

[Chuckles]

Unless it's one small enough to be nestin' in your hair.

The small ones I've seen are pretty big. Not at all like Sazh's. And there was this egg... [He holds his hands a fair distant apart to indicate size.]
