Amazing friend

Nothing is more satisfying than a conversation with a friend that understands you to the letter.

My buddy Sang came and visited today from Tyler Art School (one of the top ten schools in the nation) and brought some new works with him. He's incredible. His methods, ideas, execution, etc are off the HOOK. He is, in all honesty, my muse. Listening to him speak is a huge thrill.

We talked a lot about my own work and what can be improved, what works, what is looked for at pro-art schools, etc. and it really helped to open my eyes. Ive worked myself into a rut here at MCC by being dubbed the "big fish in a small pond" by my peers, which sucks. The profs all enjoy my work and my theories and have been pushing me to apply to a couple large art schools. But I didnt want to until talking with Sang. He was so cocky and brash when he left and in less than 6 months he is a totally different person. His ideas have really helped fill that gap for me in terms of what REALLY needs to be done (cognitive artistic ideas and practices vs. worrying about style.)

I hadnt really talked to him in that 6 month period but we basically picked up right where we left off. It was incredible. We finished each other's sentences, critiqued and criticized, exchanged ideas and doubts, and laid plans for the future. It wasnt a conversation. It was a freakin symphony of words and ideas. Nothing else like it.
