I had another awesome dream.

I found a portal in a closet somehow that threw "me" into another universe. I stepped into this closet during the middle of a shit-storm here on Earth and the next thing I knew I had a one-mile drop into the middle of an ocean. After plunging in at speeds unbeknownst to me I managed to resurface. Other than a ship off in the distance all there was to be seen was waves and clear sky. I fought my way to the ship. I got the feeling something or someone was chasing me, so I put all of my effort into the swim. As I gained on the ship, huge bubbles started coming out of the water. The closer I got to the ship, the closer these massive bubbles and the unnamed terror behind me seemed to get. Sooner or later I managed to climb onto some alien work of a craft unscathed. There I was greeted by humans dressed perhaps more like Europeans than the Americans I'm used to. The ship, however, was something out of a video game... the part I'd climbed onto was only a few inches above the surface of the water. The ship was very colorful; most of it seemed to be a teal-colored glass, while the rest was purple or red. Everything was very ornate. Everyone on board was very kind to me. Somehow they knew my status and how I'd wound up there without me telling them.

As I arrived closer to their civilization, the sky turned a bit red as if dusk were closing in. Their homes might have been built onto a mountain on an island or something... the buildings were severel hundred stories above sea level. Perhaps the island was floating. I went inside some very industrial double-doors to wind up in a very bare hallway with tile floors and bright lights. In front of me was a set of double-doors same as the ones behind me. On either side of the hallway were two single doors, each leading to a bare hallway much like the one I was in except narrower. The next set of double doors led me to a much longer hallway with many more doors. My hosts directed me to a door which led to somewhat of an auditorium. There were girls and boys all right around my age chillin' around a stage. It felt sort of like high school. I found a comfortable seat near the back and sat down. A screen came down behind the stage and I knew somehow I was about to be watching a movie. I was then approached by beautiful dark blonde-haired girl who spoke soft words to me for a bit. She already knew I was almost an alien to her, but that didn't seem to matter. She took me from my seat, led me to the back of the auditorium where there was a small offset door, and led me inside. This room was like a mini-auditorium -- you could still see the main screen, but no one else could see into where she'd led me. There was a group of couples here very spaced out amongst the numerous seats. I again found a nice spot to chill with this girl. When the movie started the girl and I had passionate sex, as did everyone else in the room. It wasn't an orgy, however; no man left his woman. After the sex was done the movie was done, and everyone just got up and left. A bit bewildered, I went out on my own to wander around.

Music was playing, but it wasn't coming from anywhere... and it didn't seem to be played by any instrument I'd seen or heard before. It was as if I had a jolly tune in my head that everyone could hear. For a brief time I got to look around their world. There was one main road with five or six buildings on each side. Between each building was a smaller road that seemed to be useless. The buildings followed the same design scheme as the ship I had been on. Many buildings were almost half glass. The hallway-type structure I had been in was offset to one end of the main road. The long hallway I'd been taken through apparently ran parallel to the main road. After entering the hallway again, I found that most of the doors led to auditoriums. I can't remember finding anything else through them. I went into another auditorium and sat down. After a while, another girl came and approached me, asked me where I was from and how I got here. The answers surprised no one, but intrigued everyone. Again, I got to nail this chick while everyone that hadn't been chosen by a girl got to enjoy the movie. Again I wound up wandering around until I wound up next to the double doors I'd originally came through. I opened them to find nothing except sky and water way, way, way down below.

This bare structure was apparently my ticket back to where I'd come from because before long I was back in my mess of a room. I did nothing very important, because I don't remember doing anything before I went back into the portal and was transported right back to the bare hallway. About then my cell phone rang. It was one of my friends, they were really stoked. They described to me the world I've described to you. After the conversation was over, I stood bewilderded as to how my cell phone worked. It was clear through everything I'd seen that this world seemed to be just like Earth, except that the continents didn't have the same shape, and technology hadn't evolved in the same way. Where my world had practical things to make life easier, this world didn't need them. No one had a car, a phone, an iPod, anything like that. I realized there were no police, no supermarkets, no computers (at least I hadn't seen one). However, each room had electricity, light switches, et cetera. It was a strange place indeed.

I went into one of the single doors around to find only an empty room. In another room, I found my bass and amp. I carried these to an auditorium. This auditorium was much smaller and much better lit than the last. The peoples asked me about this thing I was carrying. I did my best to tell them that I played this object, and that it could make music. No one understood. I then proceeded to show them. I plugged myself up and gave them my best. It blew their mind. They really hadn't seen anything like it. An idea must have came into my head because I headed back to the bare hallway (the 'portal room', so to speak) determined to find my band. Somehow my band had already had the same thing happen to them. They were waiting for me. We talked music. I remember watching the drummer open the door that led to nothing but a deathly drop and step right outside, unaffected. It turns out that the floating island or whatever I had been on was one of many, all linked together by an invisible road that stretched miles and miles above sea level and miles and miles between colonies. I also learned that each time one left this world to come back, they reappeared on a different island, in a different colony. I stepped through a single door and was taken back home. I immediately sent myself right back, back into the same room I had just left from. My band was gone. I went back to find my bass guitar. It wasn't in the same place as I'd left it. I wasn't in the same place as I'd left it, but there it was. In the auditorium, the screen came down. An announcement was made. Apparently Maximum Cat was about to play some music for these people who'd never seen a musical instrument. The screen portayed all the members of my band in a similar fashion. Each was on stage with their instrument. I picked up my bass and we went through our set of music.

After we'd finished playing, everyone came to the stage to inquire about my skills, the instrument, and how everything worked. I did my best to answer all of their questions. I discovered quite quickly that the ability to create music with my hands led to unimaginable sex appeal (of course) and that I had my pick of any female I wanted. I searched for not very long at all before I found the soft-spoken dark-blonde girl from my first experience. I asked her to explain to me the best she could about her world and everything in it. It was around this time that I woke up.

I was, of course, disappointed being woken up -- especially because it was a cell phone call that did it. When I went back to sleep I returned to the world, but had much less of an exciting adventure. Some of my premonitions had proven true -- we had been on Earth. The year was 2003, too. Something at some point had changed how humans thought, and they'd found a way to rid themselves of jealousy, violence, greed, and everything else that plagues this world as we know it. It was a utopia. I sure hope I'll return someday.

There was a small benefit to waking up -- I'd recieved an e-mail notifying me of a reply to a comment I'd left on a computer_help livejournal post. Enjoy.
