Poor Lorne. I had thought maybe this would trouble him, but not to the extent he described. I guess I figured Lorne would find the lounge limelight and sing a tune to help himself move on. And that was a lot shallower sounding now after what he had just told us ( Read more... )

"Yeah, what he said. And at least you killed Lindsey. At you least you didn't kill..." I paused, unable to say her name. I no longer wanted to kill myself, but it didn't mean that my heart was any lighter. It was so heavy, like a ten ton lead weight in my chest.

"You know who I killed, who I had a hand in killing no matter what anyone says. I might as well have cracked that sarcophagus open for her. You don't have to live with that in your heart for the rest of your life. You should feel lucky."

I didn't mean to come down on him, but killing Lindsey would be a pleasure for me. Killing Fred...I would never get over that.

Gunn was still awfully hard on himself. I guess all this bloody free time gave him nothing else to do but think about what happened to Fred. I wanted to tell him it wasn't his fault, but he didn't want to hear so I wasn't going to say it. Instead I addressed who Gunn was talking to ( ... )

Spike's words were blunt, and they came slamming into me like a 3 tonne sack of bricks. My presence here would be useless if I decided to stick around for a free ride ( ... )

I didn't know what to say, I just sat there in awe..there was one thing that was bothering me though. Who was Lindsey? I wanted to ask, but I didn't know if it was the right time. I decided that I should know who this person was since I was working for Angel and all.

"Umm who was Lindsey?"

I asked softly scared I was going to get yelled at.

I looked at Angelina, we all did. It was funny that someone in here didn't know who he was.

"Evil lawyer for Wolfram and Hart - a big evil lawfirm that we defeated before coming to here - and big ass pain in my side until Lorne...took care of him." I told her.

I then turned back to Lorne. "Look, whatever you may be feeling, Lorne, we can help with that. Spike's...I hate to admit it but he does have some good points. It's not going to be easy here. And I can hardly imagine you as a homicidal maniac...what you did is going to take some dealing with, some working through. We all have issues to work through, so don't worry, you're not the only one with issues."

"We all have things to work on, every single one of us. But we can't let that cloud the good fight. We will help each other...but we will also fight against the bad guys. If that's not what you had in mind, Lorne..." I wasn't sure what else to say at this point.

He was right on some things. But it wasn't going to be easy, especially not for me. I felt so out of my element here sometimes. I wasn't a lawyer, and I wasn't among my people back in L.A. either, if any of them were still alive. I just went along with it, because what else would I do out here? I didn't have anything else besides Angel, Spike, and the others out here.

"You're right man. About all of us having issues. I kind of wish there was a Caritas I could go to and get a drink. I miss those days." I said, shaking my head.

"Caritas. Maybe you rebuild that place out here. I never did get to go there." I said, coming down a bit off my stand earlier. Angel, as usual, had his little speech, which seemed to make things better and worse at the same bloody time.

"I say we all find a bar and drink our bloody problems away. How does that sound?" I was half joking, but caught another glare from Angel, though Gunn almost seemed to be in agreement with me.

"Joking, hair gel. Don't get your knickers in a twist. So, Lorne...you in? Gonna stick around and fight with us? Doesn't mean you're going to be come a homicidal maniac, just give you more of an edge."

I sat back and let them talk. I don't know if I was ever going to be a part of this team, they all had history and I was just vision girl who suffers pain for them. Its ok. I decided to leave them be, I was going to find something to do where I was actually wanted.

I quietly made my way out of the office and to my car that was in the parking lot. Heading into my actual job sounded good right now.

Before Lorne could speak, Angelina got up and walked out. I wondered why, probably had something to do with all of us talking about a past she wasn't a part of.

"Hey Gunn...can you go make sure she's okay?" It would give him something to do and maybe he wouldn't concentrate on Fred so much. I was glad, for once, that Illyria wasn't anywhere near here. I kind of wondered what she was doing. We hadn't gotten a call of panic from the house yet, so that had to be good, right?

Gunn nodded, then got up and left, going after Angelina.

I rubbed the side of my face, and pulled at the knot in the plain black tie that seemed to be strangling me. I slumped back in the chair I sat in ( ... )

"You're going to need a lot of training." I said, chuckling.

Lorne a warrior like us. That was laughable. He'd more likely lose a bloody appendage or his life in battle than be successful. He might be better at defending himself with some training though.

"But hey, good for you, being in with us. Just be prepared for the ride. It's going to be bloody bumpy."

"Yes, you will need training. And since you're so agreeable Spike, I'm appointing you to train him."

Spike went to protest, but I shut him up with, "Who better to train him than the man who can withstand beatings from the almighty goddess Illyria? I would think you would be honored."

I smiled, feeling a bit smug. "Besides, you haven't been doing much lately, and I think you could teach Lorne here quite a lot. Maybe get some free drinks out of it, think of it that way."

Sodding ponce, telling me to what to do! Train Lorne? Then again, it wouldn't be as bloody violent as Illyria. She could find someone else to be her pet.

I still didn't like him telling me what to do. "Fine. I will train him, but only because I'm the best there is, not because you told me to, nancy boy. I could wipe the floor with you."

I secretly found it amusing how Spike was sizing me up. He had this look in his eye when he agreed to train me, a look that spoke volumes of how hard he was going to try to make this for me ( ... )
