I kept on switching back and forth between characters. Some of your positive traits and the snarkiness really make me want to say characters like Sigrun, Shale, and Anders, but none of them get particularly temperamental or emotional. I even considered Alistair as he fits the witty/emotional combo the best, but he's not so keen on intellectual interests.
After bolding some of the above names only to keep on reconsidering, I think I'll be semi-random and say Ariane from Witch Hunt. She fits the snarkiness aspect (some of her banter with Finn seriously made me lol), enjoys learning new things (specifically, loves finding lost information about the elves, but it seems to extend to other information as well), and is reserved without being overly introverted or extroverted. She's pretty assertive and stubborn, as well as sensitive and compassionate... which leads her to be rather opinionated, temperamental at times, and openly express her emotions. She's more cautious, but tends to speak her mind... More calm than energetic, isn't outwardly aggressive but will defend herself, confident, can follow yet dislikes being voiceless, and appreciates some traditions while finding use in creativity.
I can definitely see her not wanting to be made a Grey Warden without her consent for many of the same reasons, but she probably wouldn't mind it if she felt she had no other choice. She also seems to be up for new things yet falls back on what she knows when uncertain about something, and I can see her letting the bandits go provided they give up what they stole. She fits the Neutral Good alignment very well since she always tends to do the "right" thing and help others, but doesn't hold authority to the highest regard... while also not rebelling against authority on the flip side. Even your tone in many of the situational questions reminds me of her, as she has a similar sort of realism mixed with emotion. She may not be a mage, but she would likely practice and talk to others before the battle. Though, I'm a little amused by how the rearranging bookshelves dislike reminds me more of Finn, almost everything else seems to fit nicely.
"(Also, if this is the game I'm thinking of - don't you mean predecessor?)" - Ah, yes. *headdesks* Editing error-- I originally half-erased a different sentence to rewrite it and apparently didn't change that part. Thank you for pointing it out! *changes*
