I didn’t know what to get her. So hopefully, I’d have something by tonight.
‘Giftless’ seven hours later, I switched to PLAN Z: the jewelry shop.
“God K, it’s so beautiful!” she says in awe, holding out a silver necklace with a tiny, intricate, aquamarine-studded snowflake pendant.
“It goes with my ice-queen image.” She points out.
“My thoughts exactly.” I laugh, glad that she noticed.
“This must be really expensive.”
Which means: you overspent.
“Don’t remind me.” I almost say.
Looking into her big eyes, I say this instead:
“I love you. That’s why you’re so worth it.”
