I need to post on here more often. Silly Minecraft, taking up all of my time that isn't focused on real work. Silly jobs, enslaving me with promises of money that allows me to live. Silly life.
But I digress. It's... uhm... past that time again, but I'm doing it anyway and nopony can stop me! It's time for another AniRave! #8! We've gotta at least get a full decade of these out, or something :p
Invite here:
http://oat.nu/8znr4 Info under the break, mostly copy-pasted from last year, as I do every year, because lazeh.
So it's that time of year again. That's right, time for our annual get-together of all things epic and awesome and Japanese-y. It's that 48-hour marathon of animation, gaming, and more caffeine than YOUR BODY CAN HANDLE!
It's the one, the only, ANIRAVE!
Now with 20% moar poneh. Because poneh.
Last year, the theme was occult... all wrapped up like Halloween. This year, it actually *is* Halloween. Which means, the theme is still occult. If you're not completely out of your mind by the end of the weekend, I'll have failed at my job :p
Abnormally, the invite is now linked above. Comment there or here to get an email with actual directions and full location information etc.
Since all of our collections have grown exponentially for as long as we've been doing this, I don't see a need to plan out the showing schedule very hard-core on here. Just bring all of your creepy, scary, horror-y, occult-ish, or otherwise theme-fitting anime and videogames and we'll decide what to do as we go along. Examples of anime that are fitting: Ghost Hound, Ghost Hunt, Jigoku Shoujo, Shiki, High School of the Dead, Teizokurei Daydream, Hellsing, Ghost Sweeper Mikami, etc. Examples of videogames that are fitting: Silent Hill series, Fatal Frame series, Penumbra series, etc.
A note on gaming: Once again, my primary computer will most likely be utilized for the showing, except this time we have access to a fancy-pants HD projector! Whee. We have substantailly more gaming systems for usage tho; including a PS3 that is capable of PS1 *and* PS2 games and a Wii (with its GameCube backwards compatible-ness) in addition to a smattering of my older systems. We could definitely utilize any spare controllers you might have tho. Drop a line if there's something you want to confirm that we have and/or want to confirm would be a good idea to bring.
This year will feature substantially more MLP stuff, because MLP is awesome and if you disagree you're wrong :P Also substantially more YouTube stuff, because the better part of a decade later I finally figured out how to use it. Also the newest batch of AMV Hell minis, cuz they have seasons now and they're still as awesome as ever.
For foodstuffs, try to grab some Japanese snacks and drinks and foods, and if we get enough stuff we'll try to do our usual semi-traditional Japanese dinner. Having a few large bottles of sake available would be awesome as well. If you don't have any Japanese or Asian groceries near you, feel free to just bring some spending cash. We'll pool our money early in the weekend and take a trip to a (semi)local Asian grocery to pick up what we can.
Now we actually have a house, so space is at a premium. We'll have a large room for the showing, a large room for the gaming, a smattering of rooms for miscellaneous hangouts and the like, and ample spots to crash. It is all hard-wood floors, tho, so bring comfy things to lay on. Crashing will be on a wherever-you-fall basis, we *are* all old enough now that separating boys and girls out *is* a silly concept, and I'm pretty sure it always was.
For other activities... no, there are no other activities. :p For reals, there isn't too much to do in Springfield, especially with it getting to be late fall by the time this is happening. We might make a run to a few stores hunting ponehs, or maybe go eat dinner somewhere (but y?)... mebbeh even run down to Jungle Jim's if we're feeling bored and adventurous (bored... no. adventurous... mebbeh)... but generally there will be ample things to do at the party. Trust me. We have a bottle of ghost pepper sauce and we're going to use it. >:3
