I found myself wondering what'd happen if all the astrologers of the world united and declared the heavens off limits for unauthorised human meddling. Kind of like a combined resource/heritage of humanity and permission to mine/settle granted only after the charts of the earth and all its inhabitants are examined...

So, who did she sue when Comet Levy-Shoemaker hit Jupiter, and who does she sue every time a star goes nova? What does that do to the heavens? (Used this idea in an old story of mine in Pete Crowther's 'Constellations' anthology. It's the m,edieval mind-set of 'under the moon': the immutable perfection of the heavens and the irredeemable corruptness of the earth.

Tch! All the changes you mention are the results of God's Will who is free to alter the heavens as and when She sees fit. 'Tis the human meddling which is evil, poorly thought out and potentially catastrophic. {A mindset I have come across rather frequently.}

I'll now drive myself crazy looking for the story. Thanks. :)
