Thanks to some helpful anons, we're going to try out a different posting method that will hopefully help organize this meme a little more, so it'll be easy for those seeking advice and those giving advice to locate what they need.

He will get aggressive when his friends are in trouble. He had his arm chopped off to save Pixie. He's not stupid but he knows when it's time to step up in that situation. He likes being an X-Men (or whatever he currently is) because he likes helping people, not because he likes fighting. I don't think he minds serving up a can of whoopass once in a while but it's not something he'd ever go looking for. He's been prettty chill about the violence side of heroism so far. He's pretty chill in general.
His friendship with Santo is an interesting dynamic. You wouldn't think Vic would put up with him. However, it's pretty obvious they've been through a lot together (starting with Pixie's soulsword business in Hell and leading all the way up to Utopia and that jazz) and I really think Vic recognizes Santo as the good guy he is deep down and vice versa. They have each others' backs. If you have a Santo to play with, you should definitely indulge in having them banter now and then. It's a really fun dynamic to play with. Just remember they're never really mean to each other
He does get defensive about things sometimes, and a good example of this is his sexuality. Whenever Santo called attention to it, he bristled and physically attacked him more than once. Coming from a fairly well-adjusted family, he probably didn't have a lot of fear about coming out, but it's clear he was pretty set on doing it on his own terms. Now that the ordeal is long past, writers tend to give him a light-hearted attitude about it, and while he still sometimes begrudges Santo for his tactless handling of it, he'll openly be candid about it (for example, in Cloak and Dagger #1, when it was implied he and Tandy Bowen were in any sort of relationship he responded with, "Uh, hello. Gay?"). So don't hesitate to have him get a bit snippy when people are getting into personal issues with him that he's not exactly ready to discuss.
SPEAKING OF it's wiser to keep him pretty modest about guys. Even though it is Marvel and they're still tip-toeing their way around the subject, they'd at least allude to something if Vic was a go-getter in terms of dating and stuff like that. If a cute guy hits on him, he'll pursue it provided he likes the guy back, but in general he won't go out looking for a boyfriend.
As for the whole different writers thing. It's important to rely on one writer you like and if any others contradict the little voice quirks you picked up or whatever, make a note of it somewhere and have it ready if crit comes up. You can put it in your app if that's what you're worried about, and I'm sure any mod who knows anything about Marvel will know what's going on. With Vic there aren't too many glaring inconsistencies, but even so just pick one writer and stick with the way he's written in their material.
