I think something important to note about Alex is that to begin with, he is seriously just a kid who gets thrown headlong into huge situations. First he's kidnapped by the Greek gods AND THEN he gets kidnapped from them by the Japanese gods and gets trained for five years and brainwashed into killing his dad. Which he ultimately doesn't do a bad job of, even though he failed at the actual killing part. Lots of room for trauma-induced bonding there. Then after he and Ares get bored of chilling in mythical Africa and go back to the real world, they have a pretty strained relationship because neither of them are around. AND THEN he gets recruited into the Secret Warriors because at some point between Africa and then, his powers kicked in and he got a brain upgrade too, apparently.
So, YEAH. After having all that experience and a hair colour change crammed into that weird time vortex because no one can ever agree on his age, he's grown up a lot and done it really fast. As far as I can tell, with his powers and his brainbox, he's already mentally a good bit older and level-headed than his peers, he's a bit of an outsider on top of that too, so it affords him the chance to look at things objectively.
ERM. I'm not quite sure where I was going with that. I don't think being a god plays into how Alex interacts with people much. He certainly has a bit of godly wrath in him, but I imagine it's not something that comes up unless he's sufficiently peeved. I mean, his family's history is important to him and whatnot, but if anything I'd say being a member of the Secret Warriors affects how he interacts with anyone more than being Phobos does, y'know?
Alex's relationship with Ares is obviously incredibly strained. When they moved back to the states from ~mythical Africa~ Alex hardly saw his dad. First because he was working on the job site and secondly because of when he joined the Avengers. He loves his dad dearly, he really does. The Siege oneshot shows that much veeery clearly. He just... can't agree with him. Not as a member of Osborn's Avengers. I imagine knowing what Osborn is and all that is incredibly hard for Alex to pair with his mental image of the man who is/was/whatever his hero. Ares says that as gods, they're above things like 'good' and 'evil,' but Alex wants to be a hero. He wants to fight for the greater good. So, yeah. There's some mutual respect and admiration there (more on Ares' side, I'd argue,) but yeah. They're not exactly close. And certainly not like they used to be.
UM. I don't think I hit everything there so if there's more JUST ASK and I will try to help.
