First thing that comes to mind is Maya's image- one that she's going to go to great lengths to protect. It's easy to see her as being vain and egotistical, though, ultimately, she IS willing and tempted to do the right thing, must to her chagrin- most of this stems from her desire to keep up her image as an independent, fearsome femme fatale treasure hunter. That's the first thing that comes to mind.

You make a good point! It would have been nice if we'd gotten more backstory on her as to why she's so intent on hiding who she really is.

I'd always assumed that it's much easier to keep a rough-and-tumble image in her line of work, as she seems aware that being a female in and of itself is something she's constantly working against. After all, to be feared and respected in name alone means you can avoid half of the trouble before it even starts.

I hear there's some materials-book or radio drama you can track down to get a lot of backstory on many characters for Wild ARMS 3, but I know nothing else about it...
