Plot-bit Mix & Mash

I'm having a ball trying to come up with potential story-lines that could be played out between two players, with a 'character Y' and a 'character X' being the dominant characters. It got me to wondering what building blocks other people like to use when setting up a game (I suppose that this is geared more towards people who enjoy one-on-one, online RP as opposed to forum or dice-based stuff, though those are fun, too!)

What kinds of characters do you like -- personalities, species, abilities, quirks, stuff like that.
What kinds of settings do you enjoy dabbling in? -- fantasy? Contemporary stuff? Horror-based, sci-fi, etc. etc.?
What kind of plot-bunnies (or rather, plot twists, mechanics, etc.) do you enjoy starting off from?
How about NPC's, monsters, and antagonists? (Or protagonists, if you enjoy playing a villain?)

For (I apologize, a bad) example: "I love vampires and magic and detective chase scenes and pretty pretty unicorns!"

Here are some pieced-together examples that I've been pooting out for my own entertainment: http://spiritinthewire.livejournal.com/975.html (Keeping in mind that there are some references to 'PWP' or sex-based stuff. XD Yeah yeah yeah, I know, it's goofy. Just wanted to warn you!) -- Credit where credit is due, the idea came from browsing withdoubt's ideas; I just wanted to generate some of my own.

I'd love if I could snag some bits and pieces of suggested ideas to try to mash them together into plot-lines, if you don't mind suggesting smaller building blocks! I'm having fun seeing how many ways I can twist something into a potential line.
