McCain Bashing D&D players

ok, so this isn't exactly discussing game issues, but i feel this discussion needs to be made. McCain launches an attack on a specific group of people without a real connection being made, and i'm wondering if anyone can shine some light on this. Leave a comment

Thanks so much for the kind words. Most churches, synagogues, and community outreach centers either have regular packages being shipped to the near-combat bases in Iraq and Afganistan. If not, they'll likely know someone who is sending such packages. I've heard that Afganistan troops are particularly in need of goods that remind them of home, as their struggle is often forgotten in the face of Iraq's notoriety.

Core Rules books are what's going to help the most, and you'll probably want to duct-tape some dice to the cover so they stay with the books even after the package gets divided up. Fortunately those little cylinders they sell the dice in these days make them highly portable.

If you don't have game books or other lit and you still want to send something, go to a fast food restaurant like Taco Bell or Del Taco and get a bunch of individual hot sauce packets. From what I've been told, strong sauces make modern MRE's more tolerable and the taste/smell/packaging reminds soldiers of home.

Finally, if you can't donate your older edition rpg books to an overseas care-package for whatever reason (maybe there's a weight limit or the church just won't take them), you might consider donating them to adult or juvenile correction or mental health facilities. Gaming groups in such places help with rehabilitation and with developing functional group psychology.
